Application guide for overseas students

BAC delivers an Advanced Diploma in Alexander Technique Teaching on behalf of the School for F.M. Alexander Studies (SOFMAS) in Melbourne.  Overseas trainees therefore are formally enrolled with SOFMAS, for the duration of their study, but fees are paid directly to BAC.

Fees 2007

The fees for overseas students in 2007 are $10,950 per annum payable as $2,737.50 per term.  This amount is a fixed fee for three years and will not rise unless the consumer price index rises by more than 5%.

  1. Payments
    1. The first semester's fees must be paid by intending students when they complete and submit their Acceptance of Offer of Enrolment.
    2. Once students have commenced their course at the School they must pay for their next semester's fees in advance.  If you commence your course in February, you must pay the next semester's fees by the 3rd week in February.  If you commence your course in July, you must pay the next semester's fees by the 3rd week in July.
    3. The tuition fees must be paid in the form of a bank draft, cash or telegraphic transfer or EFTPOS. Students wishing to pay by credit card will need to pay an extra 2%.
    4. All bank charges relating to transfer of funds to the School are the responsibility of the international student or intending international student and can vary from $5 to $20 depending on banking arrangements between a student's bank and the School's bank.
    5. If a telegraphic transfer method of payment is used, a copy of the Bank Confirmation containing all details of the transaction must be emailed or posted to the School after the transaction is completed so that the School can identify the payment.
  2. Refund Procedures
If notice of withdrawal is received by the School in writing, a refund of tuition fees will be made under the following conditions.
    1. Where a student visa application is rejected or visa renewal is refused, a full refund of tuition fees will be made, less a $120 administration fee.
    2. A student withdraws from the course and returns home because of exceptional and extenuating circumstances of a compassionate nature.  Such refunds will be given at the sole discretion of the Director.
    3. No refunds will be given under any circumstances to students who do not fulfill the conditions of their visa.
    4. Tuition fees will not be transferred to other educational institutions except in exceptional circumstances and at the discretion of the Director.
    5. Refunds will only be processed once a student has returned to his/her home country and the School is satisfied that his/her visa has been cancelled.
    6. No refund will be made to third parties.
    7. No refund will be given if the School receives a letter of withdrawal less than 4 weeks before the starting date of the course, or after the course starting date.
    8. These procedures do not remove the right of an international student to take further action under Australia's consumer protection laws.
    9. Claims for refunds should be made as soon as practical after withdrawal. Claims must be in writing and should be addressed to the Director.
    10. Refunds that are approved will be made within four weeks after receipt of a written claim.
  3. Protection of fees paid in advance
SOFMAS will at all times maintain membership of the Overseas Students Tuition Assurance Scheme (OSTAS) in order to safeguard all fees paid in advance.
